What kind of patients need a Pain Clinic?
Patients suffering from chronic pain including:
Headache & Migraine
Trigeminal Neuralgia
Neck & Shoulder pain
Back pain (Slip Disc)
Knee pain (Osteoarthritis)
Urogenital pain
Myofascial pain syndrome
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Cancer pain
What are the various treatments offered at Ashok Hospital Pain Clinic?
Various modalities of treatment available at Ashok Hospital Pain Management Clinic include:
Interventional Pain Procedures
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)
Radiofrequency Lesioning (RF Neurotomy)
Vertebroplasty
Percutaneous Balloon Compression for Trigeminal Neuralgia
Epidural Infusion Pumps
Percutaneous Lumbar Sympathectomy
Percutaneous Discectomy (Disc-Fix)
PLED (Percutaneous Lumbar Endoscopic Discectomy)
What is PRP Therapy? How is it useful in Pain Management?
Regenerative Medicine is a recently developed branch of medicine focusing on regeneration of tissues using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)—rich in growth factors—in degenerative diseases like:
Osteoarthritis (Knee, Shoulder)
Facet joint arthropathy
Degenerative vertebral disc
Acute ligament tear
Rheumatoid arthritis
Shoulder dislocation
Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of femoral/humeral head
A significant increase in cartilage thickness is seen on ultrasound measurement after PRP therapy. Intra-articular PRP therapy is performed under C-arm guidance under sterile conditions in the operation theater.
What is Radiofrequency Neurotomy of Genicular Nerves?
RF Neurotomy is required in patients with advanced OA Knee (Grade 3/4) along with PRP therapy.
RF Neurotomy relieves pain
PRP helps in regeneration of cartilage
This combination is especially useful in poor-risk patients who are not fit for surgery.
Can PRP + RF Neurotomy be an alternative to Knee Replacement Surgery?
Yes. PRP with RF Neurotomy can be an alternative to Knee Replacement in selective patients with advanced osteoarthritis.
What are the common causes of Neck Pain?
Myofascial syndrome
Cervical spondylitis
Cervical Disc Prolapse
Ankylosing spondylitis
Facet joint arthropathy
What treatments are offered for Neck Pain at Ashok Hospital?

Herniated Disc (4%)
Osteoporotic Compression Fracture (4%)
What treatment modalities are offered for Low Back Pain?
Transforaminal Steroid Neuroplasty
Percutaneous Discectomy / Disc-Fix
RF Discectomy
Percutaneous Lumbar Endoscopic Discectomy (PLED)
Median Branch RF Neurotomy + Intra-articular PRP for Facet Joint Arthropathy
Percutaneous Vertebroplasty for compression fracture or vertebral metastasis
What are the common causes of Urogenital pain?
Female: Vaginal pain syndrome, Vulvar pain syndrome, Cervical cancer
Male: Prostatodynia

Frequently Asked Questions
Most interventional procedures are performed under local anesthesia with sedation if needed. Patients typically experience only a mild pinprick sensation during injections. Post-procedure soreness is usually mild and resolves within 24–48 hours.
The procedure itself takes 15–30 minutes. However, you should plan for a total of 1–2 hours at the hospital including preparation, the procedure, and brief recovery time. You can usually go home the same day.
Pain relief from Radiofrequency Neurotomy typically begins within 1–2 weeks after the procedure, once the targeted nerve stops conducting pain signals. The relief can last from 6 months to over 1 year, depending on the individual and the nerve treated.
PRP therapy is considered a regenerive medicine procedure and may not be covered by all insurance plans. However, Ashok Hospital offers cashless facility for eligible schemes. Please check with our insurance desk or your provider before scheduling.
Yes. Percutaneous Discectomy (Disc-Fix) is a minimally invasive procedure performed through a small needle. Most patients can walk within 2–4 hours after the procedure and are discharged the same day or the next morning.
A standard course is 3 injections given at one-month intervals. Some patients with mild arthritis may respond well to 1–2 injections. A repeat course may be considered after one year based on symptom relief and cartilage assessment on ultrasound.
No strict age limit exists. Procedures like PRP, RF Neurotomy, and Vertebroplasty have been safely performed in patients aged 30 to over 85 years. Each patient is evaluated individually for fitness and risk-benefit ratio.
In selected patients with Grade 3/4 osteoarthritis, the combination of PRP (cartilage regeneration) + RF Neurotomy (pain relief) has shown 70–85% satisfactory pain relief lasting 6–12 months. Many patients successfully postpone or avoid knee replacement surgery.
